The Bacaro (Bàcaro in Venetian) is a typical Venetian tavern characterized by a simple and rustic decor. Glasses of wine (ombre) are mainly served, accompanied by small bites of food (cicchetti) displayed in the showcase on the counter. The fundamental characteristic that distinguishes a true Bàcaro is that it is frequented by Venetians who perpetuate the tradition of gathering to chat, comment, and laugh about the various events in life, all under the direction and conviviality of the Oste.
Maison Boutique takes you to discover the most authentic Bàcari, where you can still find a lesser but truer Venice, taste typical food, listen to the discussions among customers and feel like an active part of Venice's great stage (be aware that many of these places are closed on Sundays).
LA PALANCA
At lunch, it's an excellent trattoria with a beautiful view of Venice. In the afternoon and until the evening (they do not serve dinner), it transforms into one of the best Bacari on Giudecca island! Here, it's a must to have an ombra de vin, or a typical Select Spritz, following the true tradition of the Serenissima, all accompanied by the famous Venetian cicchetti.
A unique place in Venice, located right in front of the characteristic Squero di San Trovaso, one of the very few still-functioning boatyards in the city. The Osteria is often frequented by young university students and others and offers always fresh and delicious cicchetti! We recommend facing the queue with a little patience: it's really worth it! Please note that you eat standing up, and on leaving the place, you must beware of the seagulls: the right price for a typically Venetian experience. Not to be missed!
Just outside the most crowded tourist routes, in one of the most characteristic areas of Venice, is the Cantina Schiavi. It's a tavern and, at the same time, a wine shop where you can enjoy a good glass of wine, eat some cicchetti, or buy a bottle displayed on the shelves that decorate the place. There are no seats. You drink and eat strictly standing up.
A small and intimate cicchetteria with few seats, but with high-quality products! Everything is made on the spot, and the care for every detail returns unique flavors and scents. Typical cicchetti faithful to tradition, but also something innovative, such as those with raw fish! You will find a queue, but patience will be absolutely rewarded!
